So excited to share the opening 30 second preview of my music video for Don’t Get Too Close To The Fire Burn Burn Burn. It’s taken a long time, almost a year and a half, to find inspiration for bringing the song to life and in getting this video finished. It is my travelogue of my recent trip to the USA to see ‘the fire’ who is my inspiration for the song. Up until May last year, it was my hope that I would be able to forge a collaboration with ‘the fire’ but after a decade of trying, I was feeling extremely dejected and depressed about it all. I questioned how I could have been so wrong and off the mark. and writing about it in my song was my therapy. For self preservation, I had to burn up all my hopes and dreams. They were never coming true and there really was nothing left for me to save. The song became my hug to myself. ‘The Fire’ remained my muse but my new song was my own special reminder to never allow myself to get lost in such high aspirations again.
I hope the song will be comforting to others who may have found similar disappointments in following their hopes and dreams.
Filmed entirely in the larger than life spaces and spectacular sights of Southern California (SoCal), it is a bunch of great travel moments and memories for me, set to my tale of dreaming big and crashing hard. Stay tuned for the release and glimpses of my Maserati Grecale rental that took me all around beautiful SoCal. The Maserati has spoiled me for any other car and I am trying to weigh up whether there will be a Maserati permanently in my very near future. Ha ha!
It was a video selfie-arama across Los Angeles, Desert Hot Springs, Palm Springs, Joshua Tree National Park and Big Bear City. Although it was well into a December 2025 winter, the temperature in Southern California was more like a Sydney summer with highs of around 30 deg C + each day. So hot. Luckily I had at least brought a hat with me, but my wool winter hat was probably not the best choice. However, I will say that I was very grateful to have it in the blazing California sun. A great metaphor for ‘the fire’. That sweltering Californian winter was the perfect temperature for capturing video for a song about burning it all up. It was a cool relief to climb atop the stunning San Jacinto Peak in Palm Springs where there was a covering of snow and then to drive up to Big Bear for a day where it was only 14 deg C and snowy in parts.
Although I’ve visited Los Angeles many times, I’ve never had much time to do a lot of sightseeing. I managed to squeeze a lot in this trip but there’s still much that I’ve missed. Traveling by myself is probably the thing I enjoy most in life, beyond music of course, but that is life. Wishing America the Beautiful and her people all the best in these troubling times.
Release date in the VERY near future! I hope you’ll enjoy my song and travel adventures.

PS. Naturally, with a year and a half in between the song’s release and the video release, my appearance has changed fairly dramatically. In late 2024 I decided to stop dyeing my hair. You can see my old long dark hair in the video promo for the song’s release in the top right hand corner of this page. It’s been a VERY long slow process to go natural but I don’t regret it. I’m loving my silver streaks and I now have that beautiful salt and pepper that I have admired on many throughout my life. I felt a pressure to dye my hair for a certain look when gigging and really putting myself out there in the music world but I never liked it. It’s very me now to be totally natural and I feel no pressure anymore to be something I am not. The only thing I am impatient about is returning to the length I had. Only another ten months to go and I’ll be there!!! The new video is a great record of my transitioning hair colour. Just now in February 2026, all of those old dyed hair ends from December 2025 evident in the music video are gone.
PPS. Here are some real travel pics and videos!
